The Birthday Edition!

April 2012 was a BIG month for the Lopez Family!  Alexis turned 8 and Trystan turned 4.  They had a joint party with family and friends in Alabama at Grandma's house then they got to pick what they wanted to do for their "actual" birthdays while we were in Bay City, TX.

Please allow the photos to say most of this b/c I am supposed to be cleaning the house right now...

Alexis wanted SUPER Girly cupcakes so hers are purple/blue swirled icing with chocolate purses, nail polish, and high heals on them.

Trystan wanted a construction/fireman party so we had construction decorationg and his cupcakes had red/yellow/orange swirl icing with chocolate fire hats, fire hydrants, and fire axes on red velvet cake.
Here is Trystan in all his fire gear with Josie Hutto...they are cute together aren't they....
All of the kiddos enjoyed cupcakes and got a good laugh when a boy wanted a cupcake with girly stuff on it or a girl wanted a fire cupcake!
These are definitely ours!  Icing, silly faces, yup...LOVE these kids!
Since this was the party of the year-the media even showed up!  Can't shake those papparazzi!
For Alexis' Actual birthday-she wanted us to paint pictures and have an awards ceremony-so we did!  Here is our art hung on display prior to the ribbons being awarded.  It was soo exciting I forgot to get photos with the ribbons on them.  From L to R: Alexis', Trystan's, Chris', Lori's
She was pretty excited to get MORE gifts even after they already had their party!
The gift was the bike, not the boy...but he looks pretty happy about it!
Trystan wanted to stay home and grill hot dogs for his birthday so here we have our master griller doing a little tailgate hotdog grilling!
As for activities...we were going to play football....but Trystan's team was pretty intimidating!
This is where I decided I can be a professional photographer b/c a lot of them take pictures of just peoples feet and I can too!  j/k  I was just being silly!
Thank you for taking a quick moment to view our birthday blog.  We had a lot of fun on these days!  Until we cross paths again-God Bless you and Keep You Happy/Safe/Healthy!  Love-The Lopez Family!

Christmas in July in Reverse...

Does it really matter when I blog??  Shouldn't it just matter that I DO!  :)

The first 4th of July we spent in TX was not all that fun.  We ended up watching fireworks on a beach thing in Granbury.  Well, Trystan was still a baby and we didn't know it was a sandy beach when we went so we had no chairs and it was super hot.  We all ended up with sand stuck all over us and we a little miserable.  And parked like a mile from the fireworks.  That night Chris and I said we wanted to go back one year and see the fireworks from the hotel next to the beach.  WE FINALLY DID!  After that we didn't get the chance but we did this year!

We almost booked the cheaper hotel next door but didn't b/c the online pics looked dumpy-and we are soo very glad we made that choice.  That cheaper hotel caught on fire the day we got there and we watched them put out the flames from our hotel window.  Trystan said that was his favorite part!  (No one was hurt in the fire and I feel a hotel owner should have insurance.)

We spent two nights in Granbury so we could get an early start on the 4th and stay late for the fireworks and not have to drive back. It was Wonderful!  Granbury had a parade and then booths set up in the square all day.  We had lunch at a less than yummy but still quite charming restaurant on the square and spent the entire day just looking around.  That night the hotel had rental chairs on the dock and we all got to sit on the dock by the water to watch the fireworks.  They had drinks and free necklaces for the kids.  We definitely made up for the past few 4th of July holidays!

I am Speed!

In March 2011 we attended the Good Guys Car Show at Texas Motor Speedway!
Hundreds of cards, lots of yummy greasy food, booth after booth of vendors, racecar limo rides, racecar rides, sales, parts, cars of all years/makes/colors, short races....lots to be seen in a day!

There was definitely something for everyone here!
Purple Cars...

Mini Cars...

Antique Cars...

We even got to ride in the racecar limo!  I think that may have been the family favorite!

The M&M Car is Trystan's Favorite!

After all day at the racetrack I think we were worn out!

The Sweet Life!

On our way back to TX from PA we had a little side trip!
What we learned on our 1 hr mini vacation:
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MILK!!!

These ladies sang us through the chocolate process!
I think Hershey is in PA b/c it is always cold there which keeps
the cows cold so the milk stays nice and fresh!

It's a long way from the cocoa bean to the hershey bar....

But we made it to the end!
They were handing out free chocolates too!

The coolest part:
HUGE candy!  Hershey kisses the size of your head, twizzlers 2 feet long!  Lots of fun candies!!

We Get Our Clothes CRAZY Clean!

This blog is a few months late....nevertheless....here it is!

Camper Living=Laundromat Laundering

Findings:  PA laundromats are silly....the one we went to had a tanning bed and a water massage bed....And...Laundry is much faster when you can do more than one load at a time!

Pros of Laundromat Laundering:

1.  A Multitude of  load sizes!

Small

Large

Medium

2.  Lots of space for carting clothes.

3. Onsite dining!

4.  Comfy Seating!

5.  Lots of Activities!

Adventures in Baking!

Pie.  Lots of Pie.  Why pie?  It is small.  It doesn't rise.  It fits in my now micro sized oven.

Just Cutting Up!

I spent this past Saturday making pies-one of my first homemade pies (other than pumpkin with the recipe on the side of the pie mix) ever.  Do note that the crust was however store bought-otherwise, homemade!  Apple from the recipe on the crust box, Fudge from allrecipes.com.
Stripping!

Apples to Apples

All dressed up and ready to go!

Hot Hot Hot!

Please refrain from licking the screen!

The After Party!

Homemade almond whipped topping! Wowza!
Nooks and Crannies!

Fudgy Goodness!
The finished products!

2 pies-4 people-too much!
Two are better than one!

I might (not) have shared this plate!
